The Individualized Occupational Training (IOT) program is designed to help students develop into life-long learners and responsible citizens ready to take on the challenges of today's careers.

0124 CAREER EXPLORATION & EMPLOYMENT PREPARATION (OT 0100)
Grades 9 -12 Elective Semester Course

This course is designed to assist students in need of establishing career and educational direction and to prepare them for individualized occupational training uniquely suited to their strengths and motivations. This pre-requisite course is necessary to enter the Work-Based Learning Experience classes as a Junior or Senior. Course goals are:
· To identify and develop hidden potential in youth.
· To acquaint students with career opportunities organized around the Idaho Career Clusters.
. To acquaint students with further educational options, along with financial opportunities to help them obtain future training and schooling in their chosen career.
· To assist students in developing skills to locate, acquire and maintain employment.
· To provide youth with an orientation to work place health and safety.

If student chooses to participate in the Work-Based Learning program they have a great opportunity to experience their career before entering their further educational field or worksite.

0127/0128 WORK-BASED LEARNING EXPERIENCE I, II, III, IV

Grades 11-12 Elective Semester Course - Pre-requisite: Counselor and Instructor
Approval and Career Exploration & Employment Preparation

This course provides a coordinated work-based learning experience at an approved work site for students who have completed the "Career Exploration & Employment Preparation Class". The primary purpose of this program is to prepare students with an individualized occupational training uniquely suited to their strengths and motivations. Students will be placed in a pre-approved, non-paid position with a training plan. Students, parents, employers and coordinator will be required to sign a work-based learning agreement. Students will need their own transportation, and have a valid driving license.Students will be required to complete weekly time sheets and reports. Evaluations of training plan and job performance will be ongoing throughout the course. This is an excellent opportunity to experience your career before you enter your further schooling, training or worksite. Early signup with instructor is essential.

 

0122 STUDENT TUTOR - Work-Based Learning (OT 0120)
Grades 11-12 Elective Semester Course - Must have Counselor & Instructor Approval.

This course provides a coordinated Student Tutor Work-Based Learning experience at the high school, or elementary level to assist in preparing students who are interested in a career in teaching. Work may include tutoring one on one with students, or assisting a teacher with a variety of tasks, which may or may not include working with students. Students will be placed in a pre-approved, non-paid position. Students must have passed all core courses the previous semester and hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, as well as exhibit good attendance, with no prior credit review issues. Students, parents, principal, teacher and coordinator will be required to sign a Student Tutor Learning Agreement. Students will need their own transportation, and have a valid driver's license.Students will be required to fill out time sheets and reports and evaluations of job performance will be ongoing throughout the course.
