Park School has students in the 4th & 5th grades. Students at Park School spend much of their day with their homeroom teacher, but do move to an ability grouped class for Success for All reading instruction. Throughout the week, all students participate in P.E., music, library time and the computer lab. The Staff at Park School is committed to providing their students with a quality education which prepares them for rest of their lives.
- Christmas Programs-are completed, but there's no snow! Students sang well and looked sharp. Thank you to all who came to the high school to watch and support a child.
- Christmas vacation- Students were released at noon on Wednesday, December 21 and school will be back in session on Thursday, Jan. 5. Have a great holiday break!
- Study Island—Last year Park School purchased and began having students work with a program at school (1:15 min. per week in our computer lab) called Study Island. It is an internet-based learning program. We have become very excited about this program as it is closely tied to Idaho grade level Standards and our Park School curriculum. As students work through objectives successfully they earn a blue ribbon (on the computer). A Blue ribbon indicates mastery (or at least a good understanding) of that grade level standard. Blue ribbons are earned by students scoring at least 8/10 questions in math and language, and 7/10 in reading on each objective. Most students like the games included with Study Island, and they can play a short game after each correct response. Students can log on at school, at home, or wherever there is a computer with an internet connection at studyisland.com. (Each student knows their individual login and password.) We are giving some incentives for participation including an Island Party this May for students who have earned 25 or more blue ribbons. We chart student advancement in the program and will be posting point clubs weekly this Spring. At the most, students could earn 76—4th grade and 65—5th grade blue ribbons to match the number of grade level standards in math, reading and language. Some students may complete all grade level standards and will be encouraged to work above grade level to match and challenge their ability.
- Morning library- School begins at 8:40, but our library is open at 7:45 each school day. Students who would like a warm place to read or check homework may come into the library before school. Breakfast begins at 8:00. There is no one on playground duty prior to 8:00. From 8:10-8:40, students may also go into the computer lab for additional practice.
- Winter is here!- Please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather with coats, hats and gloves. And remember, we have a lost and found box that attracts missing items. Have your children check the box often if they lose an item of clothing. Also, please do not drive up our hill to drop off your child in the morning. The hill becomes narrow and slick when we get into the winter months. Thank you for helping with safety.
- Valuabe Items - Christmas brought many new toys. Please don't allow students to take electronic toys or other valuable items to school. When personal items are lost, stolen, or damaged, it is sometimes difficult and time consuming to sort through, and the school cannot assume responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged personal items.
- Our first semester ended on December 21.
- Morning Basketball. We will be able to offer morning recreational basketball from 8:00-8:40 each day during January and February. We will have a high school student as a referee.
