Special Education Destruction of Records
Special Education Records
Special Education records which have been collected by the Weiser School District #431, related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of Special Education services must be maintained under state and federal laws for a period of five years after special Education services have ended for the student. Special Education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, moves from the district, and/or completes his or her educational program at age 21.
This notification is to inform parents/guardians or adult students that the Special Education records for students will be destroyed in 6 years from the end of services. Destruction of these records is the best protection against improper and unauthorized disclosure.
Education records for student who were enrolled in the district as a student prior to the year 2012 and have since left the district are no longer needed and will be destroyed after July 24, 2019
Please be aware that these records may be needed in the future for social security benefits or other purposes. If you desire to review the file or keep the file for your own records, please make your request to the Special Services Office at 414-1494 or fill in the form below.
