What is Title I?

Title 1 provides federal funds to schools to provide resources and additional staff training to schools and districts to ensure all children have a equitable opportunity to obtain a quality educational to close the educational gaps. 

In Weiser, what schools are Title I schools?

Pioneer Elementary (K-3) and Park Intermediate  (4-5) are Title 1 schools.

What makes a school a Title I school?

Schools qualify by having over 40% of students eligible for free/reduced lunch.

What is Title I-C?

Title I-C is the Migrant Education Program. It supports the education for migratory children to reduce the impact of academic disruptions from repeated moves. That way each child receives the same opportunity to meet academic standards and can overcome barriers to successfully transition into postsecondary education and employment. 

Who qualifies for Title I-C?

Any child of any race or language background who's family have moved in the last 3 years and work in agriculture or fishing. 

What is Title II-A?

Title II-A improves the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders through professional development, recruitment, and retention. 

What is Title III-A?

Title III-A is a federally funded program that provides money to school districts for programs supporting English Learners (ELs) and immigrant students to help them achieve English proficiency and academic success.

What is the English Learner Program?

The English Learner Program (EL/ESL) supports multilingual students in public schools, providing resources for districts to create language instruction programs.

How is a student identified as an EL/ESL learner?

A students is identified using home language surveys and WIDA screeners. 

What is a WIDA Screening?

WIDA is for newly enrolling students to determine eligibility for EL/ESL programs. WIDA assesses listing, speaking, reading, and writing skills within the first 30 days of enrollment. 

What is Title IV-A?

Title IV-A was put in place to provide funds to schools in three key areas:

1. Providing a well-rounded education.
   1. Supporting subjects like arts, music, STEM, and AP/IB courses. 
2. Fostering safe and healthy learning environments. 
   1. Funding programs such as mental health, anti-bullying, and drug prevention.
3. Improving technology use for academic achievement. 
   1. Enhancing digital literacy and integration technology for learning.
