Special Education Services
Early Childhood Special Education (Ages 3–5)
Weiser School District #431 provides free developmental screenings and evaluations for children ages 3 through 5 who may need additional support with learning, speech, behavior, or other areas of development.
Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Idaho Special Education Manual, all Idaho school districts are responsible for locating, identifying, and serving children with disabilities starting at age three. This process, known as Child Find, ensures that every child has access to the support and services they need to learn and grow.
When to Request a Screening
If you have concerns about your child’s development, you may notice one or more of the following:
-
Delays in speech or language
-
Difficulty learning new skills
-
Challenges with social interactions, play, or behavior
-
Delays in motor skills or self-help skills
You are encouraged to contact the district to request a free developmental screening or evaluation through our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program.
